Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) is an idiopathic inflammatory lung disease characterized by an allergic inflammatory response to colonization of Aspergillus or other lung fungi.It was first described in 1952 by Hinson and colleagues and then in 1967, it was recognized as being associated with or in the vicinity of bronchiectasis in areas previously affected by infiltrate (predominant in the upper lobes).
