Description
Anca Domnica LUPU
The hero with one thousand names, Cinderella, has nowadays become something more akin to an archetype, synonymous with the symbol of someone who used to be neglected for a long period of time and is now finally seen, and whose attributes are recognized after going through a transformation process or an initiatory journey. Rhodopis, the first version of Cinderella, dating back to ancient Greek times, metamorphoses into Zezolla in Bassile’s tale from 1634, Yeh-hsien in the Asian stories, or Rushen Coatie in the Scottish version. However, these are all stories about a universal need for being loved and cherished, of having someone by our side no matter what. Coming into contact with either one of these versions helps children overcome the fear of losing one’s mother and satisfies the need for love and being loved.
