The aim of the paper is to analyze the treatment stages in order to obtain a total mobile/ mobilizable prosthesis in the case of patients with total mandible edentation.
Material and methods. The characteristics, advantages and disadvantages for each of them in case of classic total prosthesis and total prosthesis were followed.
Results. The treated cases reconfirmed the difficulties that appear in the case of prosthetic restoration of the total mandible edentation. The accentuated and rapid resorption of the edentulous ridges is a factor that affects the maintenance and stability of a classic total acrylic prosthesis. The clinical, technical and financial possibility (on behalf of the patient) to insert implants at the level of the edentulous ridge on which to create a total mobilizable prosthesis, is a variant of treatment with superior results regarding the functions restoration of the dento-maxillary apparatus.
Conclusions. As treatment methods in totally edentulous patients uni/bimaxillary, when possible, prosthesis on dental implants will be recommended. If it is not possible to have a fixed prosthesis variant on implants, it is recommended to make total prostheses aggregated on dental implants to ensure superior maintenance and stability. In situations where prostheses on dental implants are not a solution for clinical reasons or related to the patient’s wishes, total mobile prostheses will be used in which compliance and correctness of the clinical and technical stages are essential.
