Index Academic invites authors from different academic fields to submit original and relevant manuscripts consistent with the journal’s multidisciplinary profile.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are asked to consult the Aims and Scope, Editorial Policy and Peer Review, Publication Ethics and Best Practices, and Open Access, Copyright and License policies.

Submission of a manuscript implies acceptance of the journal’s editorial policies.

Accepted Languages

Index Academic accepts manuscripts in:

  • Romanian;
  • English;
  • French.

The text must be written in clear and correct academic language.

To facilitate international discovery and indexing, authors are required to provide bibliographic metadata in accordance with the requirements of the submission form.

Types of Contributions

Depending on the relevance and academic quality of the manuscript, the journal may publish:

  • original research articles;
  • review and synthesis articles;
  • theoretical or conceptual studies;
  • case studies;
  • methodological analyses;
  • academic essays;
  • academic comments and perspectives;
  • other contributions of scientific or academic value accepted by the editorial team.

Authors who are unsure whether their manuscript fits the journal’s profile are encouraged to consult the Aims and Scope page.

Manuscript Originality

The manuscript must represent an original contribution and must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

Authors must disclose any relevant previous version of the work, including:

  • preprints;
  • versions deposited in a repository;
  • conference papers;
  • previously published texts or results that substantially overlap with the submitted manuscript.

The existence of a preprint does not automatically prevent the manuscript from being considered.

Sources used must be properly cited, and reuse of the authors’ own previously published material must be transparently indicated.

Manuscript Preparation

The manuscript should be written in a clear, coherent form appropriate to the type of contribution.

Its structure may vary according to the field and nature of the work, but where appropriate it may include:

  • title;
  • abstract;
  • keywords;
  • introduction;
  • theoretical background or literature review;
  • methodology;
  • results;
  • analysis or discussion;
  • conclusions;
  • statements regarding funding, conflicts of interest, author contributions, or the use of artificial intelligence, where relevant;
  • bibliographic references.

For theoretical, conceptual, humanities, or other types of articles for which the standard structure of an experimental paper is not appropriate, authors may use an organization consistent with the conventions of the relevant discipline.

Title, Abstract and Keywords

The title should be clear, informative, and reflect the content of the work as accurately as possible.

The abstract should concisely present the purpose of the work, the approach used, the main results or arguments, and the relevant conclusions.

Authors must provide keywords that accurately describe the subject of the work and facilitate its discovery in search engines and academic databases.

Language requirements for the title, abstract, and keywords are indicated in the submission form and editorial system.

Authors and Affiliations

For each author, the following information should be provided where applicable:

  • full name;
  • institutional affiliation;
  • country;
  • email address;
  • ORCID identifier, where available.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the editorial team and for forwarding relevant information to the other co-authors.

The list and order of authors must be established before manuscript submission.

All authors must have made a genuine contribution to the work and must approve the version submitted for publication.

Anonymization for Peer Review

Index Academic uses double-anonymous peer review.

The version of the manuscript intended for reviewers must not contain information that directly identifies the authors.

Authors must remove from the anonymized manuscript:

  • author names;
  • affiliations;
  • email addresses;
  • biographies;
  • acknowledgements that could reveal identity;
  • other obvious information that could identify the authors.

Author information is entered separately in the submission system.

When citing their own previous works, authors should avoid wording that unnecessarily reveals their identity.

Bibliographic References

All works cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and all works included in the reference list must be cited in the text.

References must be complete, accurate, and verifiable.

Whenever available, inclusion of the cited work’s DOI is recommended.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of bibliographic references.

The chosen referencing style must be applied consistently throughout the manuscript. Depending on the field, the editorial team may accept established citation styles provided that they are used correctly and consistently.

Tables, Figures and Images

Tables and figures must:

  • be numbered;
  • have clear titles or captions;
  • be referred to in the text;
  • be sufficiently clear for online publication;
  • indicate the source when they are not original.

Authors are responsible for obtaining any permissions required for copyrighted third-party material.

Manipulation of images in a way that changes the meaning of data or results is not permitted.

Data and Supplementary Materials

Where the nature of the research allows, authors are encouraged to make available the data, code, materials, or other elements supporting the published results.

These may be deposited in an appropriate repository and identified by a persistent link or DOI, where available.

Any restrictions on access to data must be justified by legal, ethical, confidentiality, or other legitimate considerations.

Research Ethics

Authors are responsible for complying with the ethical requirements applicable to their research.

For research involving human participants, animals, sensitive personal data, or other situations requiring ethical approval, authors must provide relevant information regarding approvals, consent, and protective measures.

Any conflict of interest must be disclosed.

Funding sources must be stated where relevant.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools may not be listed as authors or co-authors.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.

Substantial use of AI tools to generate or modify text, code, images, data, analyses, translations, or other relevant academic elements must be transparently disclosed.

Use solely for spelling, grammar, or stylistic correction does not normally require a declaration.

Authors must independently verify any information, reference, or result generated with the assistance of artificial intelligence.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts are submitted through the Index Academic online editorial system, available through the OJS platform.

Authors must complete all metadata requested in the submission form and upload the required documents.

By completing the submission, the corresponding author confirms that:

  • all authors have approved the manuscript and its submission;
  • the author list is correct;
  • the manuscript is not simultaneously under review by another journal;
  • sources and reused materials are properly identified;
  • conflicts of interest and funding sources have been disclosed;
  • applicable ethical requirements have been observed;
  • the information supplied to the editorial team is accurate.

Editorial Process

After submission, the manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment.

Works that meet the journal’s profile and requirements are normally sent to two independent reviewers under a double-anonymous peer review system.

Following review, the decision may be:

  • acceptance;
  • acceptance subject to minor revisions;
  • major revision and re-evaluation;
  • rejection.

Authors may be asked to respond point by point to reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version.

The procedure is described in detail in the Editorial Policy and Peer Review.

Publication Fees

Index Academic does not charge fees for manuscript submission or for the peer review process.

For each article accepted for publication, a publication fee of:

EUR 10 / accepted article

is charged.

The fee is payable only after the article has been accepted and does not influence the evaluation process or editorial decision in any way.

The fee contributes to covering costs associated with academic publishing and editorial services, including DOI registration and administration and the infrastructure required to publish and maintain open access content.

Payment of the fee does not guarantee acceptance of a manuscript. No payment is requested before completion of the review process and communication of the acceptance decision.

Copyright and License

Authors retain copyright over their published works.

Accepted articles are published under the:

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

By publishing, authors permit distribution and reuse of the work under the terms of this license.

Details are provided on the Open Access, Copyright and License page.

DOI and Published Version

Each article published in Index Academic receives an individual Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

The DOI persistently identifies the official published version of the article and should be used in citations whenever possible.

Authors are encouraged to update any preprints, academic profiles, and repository records by adding the citation and DOI of the published version.

After Acceptance

Before final publication, authors may be asked to:

  • submit a final revised version;
  • complete or verify metadata;
  • clarify affiliations and ORCID identifiers;
  • confirm statements concerning conflicts of interest, funding, and contributions;
  • provide images or files in an appropriate technical format;
  • check the final version prepared for publication.

Authors should carefully review the final version before publication and report any errors.

Post-Publication Corrections

Errors identified after publication should be reported to the editorial team as soon as possible.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, the journal may publish a correction, an Expression of Concern, or, in serious cases, a retraction in accordance with the Publication Ethics and Best Practices policy.

Authors’ Responsibility

Submission and publication of an article imply authors’ responsibility for:

  • originality of the contribution;
  • accuracy of data and information;
  • correctness of citations and references;
  • compliance with copyright;
  • disclosure of conflicts of interest and funding sources;
  • compliance with ethical requirements;
  • declarations concerning the use of artificial intelligence;
  • accuracy of metadata and author information.

Authors are encouraged to retain documents and data relevant to the research and to cooperate with the editorial team if clarification is required.
