Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine hypnoinducer, which has unusual neuropsychic effects for hypnoinducers, represented by hallucinations, delirium, amnesia and somnambulism.Zolpidem is involved in several cases of homicide. In this review we have developed the issue of the unusual neuropsychic effects of zolpidem, the forensic implications of the neuropsychic effects of zolpidem, and the most relevant cases of homicide in which it has been involved and its use as rape drug.
