The aim of our research was to investigate the antidiabetic action of a Romanian tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus L) dry extract through a clinical in vivo study. The dry extract was obtained by hot water refluxing of the vegetal product, then dried with a vacuum pump, and analyzed for its main components (flavonoids and polyphenolic acids). The extract was then orally administered to the rats with type II diabetes, induced by aloxane, compared to glibenclamide. The hypoglycemic effect of the dry extract of tarragon was demonstrated by the percentage variation of the glycemic values of the rats, compared with the untreated group.
