This study investigates the flavone and polyphenol content, as well as the antioxidant potential, of a phytopreparation created from equal parts of Cynara scolymus (artichoke leaves), Taraxacum officinale (dandelion herb), and Silybum marianum (milk thistle fruits). Spectrophotometric analysis revealed the highest flavone content in artichoke leaves (0.516 g% in rutin equivalents), followed by dandelion (0.447 g%) and milk thistle (0.446 g%), consistent with Pharmacopoeial and EMA standards. Polyphenol analysis showed artichoke as the richest source, with 1.755 g/100 g in gallic acid equivalents and 1.758 g/100 g in caffeic acid equivalents, while milk thistle had the lowest polyphenol content. The combination of these three plants yielded a phytopreparation with 0.497 g% flavones and substantial polyphenols (1.502 g% in gallic acid and 1.520 g% in caffeic acid equivalents). These results indicate a high concentration of bioactive compounds, supporting the hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects attributed to these plants. The FRAP assay demonstrated that the mixture exhibits enhanced antioxidant activity compared to individual plant components, suggesting synergistic interactions among the bioactive compounds. The notable synergy between flavones and polyphenols in this mixture enhances its therapeutic potential, suggesting efficacy for liver protection and oxidative stress mitigation. This formulation demonstrates promise as a natural therapeutic agent, highlighting the value of phytopreparations in liver health support and preventative care.
