Description

Simona REGHINTOVSCHI

The psychological profile of Romanians should contain the dimension of ethnic unconscious defined by George Devereux – that portion of the total unconscious segment of the individual’s psyche that most member of his given cultural community have in common. One way to have access to the ethnic unconscious could be the psychoanalytic study of folklore, mainly the fairy tales. In this paper the author presents an original method suitable for researching unconscious aspects outside the clinical setting. This method combines the symbolic equivalence of allomotifs, the self-reflexivity of the analyst, and triangulation by group discussion.
