George V. Scripcariu is a Senior Editor at a leading Romanian diaspora radio station, Radio Punct, specializing in cutting-edge information practices and analysis. With a diverse background in diplomacy, journalism, strategic consulting, and international development, Mr. Scripcariu brings a wealth of experience to his role.
His career began at the Black Sea University Foundation, where he served as personal assistant to the late Professor Mircea Malița, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania and Ambassador to Geneva and Washington DC. There, George Scripcariu managed ITC projects focusing on countries in the former Soviet space.
As a Political Journalist at the Romanian National Television (TVR1), Mr. Scripcariu specialized in affairs related to the Far East and Japan, contributing to prominent programs such as “Mapamond”, “Atlas”, and “Timpul Europei”.
His international experience includes a significant position in Tokyo, where he worked as a consultant for JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency). In this capacity, he collaborated with the prestigious Overseas Coastal Development Institute of Japan and Pacific Consultants International, contributing to major projects such as the development of the Constanta Port Master Plan, the development of the container terminal, and the development of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal project in the port of Constanta.
His expertise also extends to the financial sector, having experience as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in a USAID program that supported the development of capital markets in Romania. George Scripcariu also served as a Communications Officer for the Southeast European Cooperation Initiative (SECI) headquarters in Bucharest.
During his stay in Japan, Mr. Scripcariu had the privilege of teaching techniques for writing the spy novel based on the work of the great British author, John le Carré, a former intelligence officer in Her Majesty’s service. These courses were based on the seminal work “Russia House”, offering a unique perspective on the intersection between literature and the world of espionage.
George Scripcariu is also a pioneer in the field of Artificial Intelligence, having taught “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” in Tokyo since the 1990s, using a bibliography based on the works of the eminent American specialist Marvin Minsky, professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA). He has published articles on AI, including in intelligence publications in Bucharest. In recent years, Mr. Scripcariu has been a technology ambassador for the startup Iris.ai, which provides advanced AI-based solutions for leading researchers. Recognition of his expertise in this field culminated in his designation as the “2023 Ambassador” by DeepLearning.ai, one of the most advanced global educational institutions in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
