Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the pharmaceutical industry by reshaping each stage of the drug development process—from drug discovery and molecular design to personalized medicine, clinical trials, and pharmacovigilance. Through sophisticated tools like machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and natural language processing (NLP), AI brings new capabilities for analyzing complex datasets, predicting therapeutic outcomes, and improving the precision of patient care. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of AI’s transformative role within the pharmaceutical field, detailing its ability to streamline research, reduce costs, and enhance health outcomes globally. AI’s role is particularly impactful in drug discovery, where it enables rapid compound screening and precise molecular design; in clinical trials, where it optimizes patient selection, trial monitoring, and adaptive protocol adjustments; and in pharmacovigilance, where it facilitates real-time monitoring of adverse reactions to ensure public safety. Furthermore, this paper addresses critical challenges in implementing AI, such as ensuring data privacy, mitigating bias in algorithms, and fostering transparency in complex AI models. Finally, it explores the future of AI in establishing a knowledge-driven healthcare ecosystem focused on equity, proactive health management, and personalized care.
