The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of lesions of the oral mucosa among military students of “Ferdinand I” Military Technical Academy, Bucharest – Romania. The group participating in the study was represented by 318 subjects, military students in the first, second and third year. In an extensive study evaluating the orodental health status based on the EGOHID II(European Global Oral Health Indicators Development II Project) form recommended by the European Commission, the presence of lesions of the oral mucosa was also assessed. The results of the study showed the presence of lesions of the oral mucosa in54.08% examined students(n=172), 11% (n=35) female participants and 43.08%(n=137) male participants. The most affected areas were the buccal mucosa. The conditions identified were lichen planus(code 3)(n=23), traumatic ulceration(code 4)(n=11) and keratosis lesions related to parafunctional habits (code 6) (n=138). The lesions of the oral mucosa identified in our research study are the local expression of stress for the majority of the participants.
