Objective: To use validated 3D finite element (FE) models to evaluate the biomechanical effects of different prosthetic/implant configurations and loading directions on 3-unit fixed dentures supported by short dental implants in the posterior mandible. Methods: The models represented an atrophic mandible missing the second premolar, the first and second molars, and the rehabilitated maxillary teeth.
