Psycho-somatic pathology includes diseases or clinical conditions that involve different psychological components, as the same psychological phenomena (fears, conflicts, frustrations) can cause different psychosomatic diseases. That is precisely why, in order to become aware of a psycho-somatic disease, a psychological etiology must be found or a psychological factor must be included among its causes. Psycho-somatic pathology includes patients with somatic diseases whose appearance was determined or favored by a certain psychic relationship to the world or to themselves. The psycho-somatic domain is made up of all somatic diseases that have psychological components, although it should not be overlooked that most patients with somatic disorders are not aware that they are under stress. In modern hospitals there are departments of liaison psychiatry or psychiatric specialists who work in the field of psychosomatic medicine, finding their place at the interface between medicine and psychiatry. The future predictions of psycho-somatic medicine and liaison psychiatry are characterized by: credibility, visibility, durability. It is hoped to be a marriage between the scientific investigation of the psychophysiological process with the approach to patient care that includes all psycho-social manifestations.
