The objective of our study is to determine the role of employees’ attitudes and personality profile in accepting a management position. Methodology: The sample was composed of 20 male adults, employees of an organization in Romania. Participants’ attitudes were observed during a professional training and they also completed the NEO-PI-R questionnaire in order to identify their personality traits. Results: Of the total number of participants, two accepted the management position, and 18 refused. The employees who accepted the promotion had both the right attitudes and personality profile for the position. The employees who refused the new job did not have the appropriate attitudes, but four of them had the appropriate personality profile. The acceptance of the management position correlated statistically significantly with both the attitudes and the personality profile of the employees. Conclusions: For employees who refuse a management position, although they present the appropriate personality profile, persuasive techniques can be used to lead to a change in attitudes and, consequently, to accepting the new position.
